What Happened

20 villagers traveling in tractor-trailer to purchase items (no bus service to remote village). Targeted by DPU pressure mine. 10 killed including 6-month-old baby. Viewed as planned ethnic cleansing - forcing Tamils out for Sinhala settlements. Village was evicted in 1990, resettled in 1995, more refugees joined after CFA. After this massacre, people fearful to live there.
