What Happened

On 21.04.1985, Sri Lankan Armed Forces from Mullaitivu rounded up Puthukkudiyiruppu Iyankovilady village. Government employees were identified and released. People who did labour work for daily wages were taken in a military vehicle towards Oddisuddan. Survivor account: "They arrived very early in the morning. We were still asleep. They rounded up people and took them to Puthupalavu Shop. We heard a big explosion. Over 30 people were taken to a lane near Oddisuddan Road and shot. Most died. The bodies were taken in SLA vehicles and burnt with kerosene and tar." 30 civilians were killed.
