On 16.03.1996, Sri Lankan Air Force strafed Nachchikuda village. 20 Tamil civilians were killed in the attack. The victims included fishermen, students, and infants. The strafing attack targeted civilians on the ground who had no means of protection from aircraft. Entire families were killed in the attack.
