On 2 November 2006, Sri Lankan Air Force Kfir jets dropped 16 bombs approximately 500 meters east of Kilinochchi General Hospital in Anandapuram. Six civilians were killed: a family of five (including two GCE A/L students aged 18 and 20) whose house was bombed, and a 49-year-old hospital patient who was a mother of four and died from shock-related complications. One person was seriously injured. Approximately 500 hospital patients were evacuated, including mothers with newborns and wounded from previous bombings.
