What Happened

A 15-year-old boy and a 51-year-old woman were killed and 11 civilians, including a one-year-old baby, were wounded when a Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Kfir fighter jet bombed fishermen on shore near the Church of Vealangkanni in A'lampil Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. Five children below 16 years of age were wounded in the SLAF bombardment. The Kfir bomber flew at low altitude, targeted the fishermen families who were sorting fish on the shore and dropped two bombs on them. A 15-year-old victim, P. Premkumar, has lost both of his legs in the attack. The SLAF bombardment on civilian target comes while the Norwegian Ambassador is on a visit to Ki'linochchi to meet with the LTTE Political Head.
