What Happened
On 15.07.1997, Sri Lankan forces attacked Akkarayan hospital. 3 people were killed and 1 was injured in the attack on this medical facility. The targeting of a hospital violated international humanitarian law protecting medical facilities. Patients and staff were endangered by the attack.
